A polymeric collapsible matrix of single walled cells includes rows I, II, III, etc of open ended hollow prisms formed from a flexible sheet-like material. Each prism in a row has a perimeter enclosing wall of wall segments one of which is shared with a directly adjacent prism of the row. The adjacent prisms of a row are orientated alternately to form a repeating sequence of prism orientations. The upper and lower boundaries of each row are constant, and when the matrix is in the expanded state the rows do not overlap or interleave one with the other. Two methods for constructing the matrix are disclosed, and the method claimed in claim 19 is the method that is claimed in claim 1 of the parent patent 541180 which has been surrendered under Section 43 of the Patents Act 1953. |
