titleOfInvention | Formulation comprising whey protein and hydrolysates for improving muscle recovery |
abstract | Disclosed is the use of a hydrolysate of whey protein which is produced by enzymatic treatment with an enzyme from the IUBMB enzyme nomenclature class EC 3.4.21.62 or EC3.4.24.28 and having a net degree of hydrolysis of 0.5% to 10% by weight in the manufacture of a medicament for attenuating a reduction in muscle function which results from muscle damage and/or for enhancing recovery from muscle damage. Further disclosed is a non-therapeutic method of attenuating a reduction in muscle function which results from muscle damage and/or for enhancing recovery from muscle damage and/or for enhancing the force generating capacity of muscle, the method comprising administering to a subject a formulation comprising a hydrolysate of whey protein, said hydrolysate being produced by enzymatic treatment with an enzyme from the IUBMB enzyme nomenclature class EC 3.4.21.62 or EC 3.4.24.28 and having a net degree of hydrolysis of 0.5% to 10% by weight. |
