abstract |
Disclosed is a 1000 mg niacin pharmaceutical composition comprising: a) about 78 percent to about 82 percent w/w of niacin granular, wherein not less than 85 percent (w/w) of said niacin granular has a particle size in the range of about 100 to about 425 micrometers, and wherein not more than 10 percent (w/w) of said niacin granular have a particle size of less than about 100 micrometers; b) about 14 percent to about 18 percent w/w of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose having a methoxyl degree of substitution of about 1.39 to about 1.41 and a hydroxypropoxyl molar substitution of about 0.20 to about 0.22.; c) about 2.5 percent to about 3.0 percent w/w polyvinyl pyrrolidone, wherein said polyvinylpyrrolidone has a K-value ranging from about 85 to about 95; and d) about 0.5 percent to about 1.5 percent w/w stearic acid. |
