abstract | Disclosed is a solid dissolution composition in the form of a powder (which typically contains less than 5% by weight water), for preparing a biorelevant media to evaluate the solubility and dissolution characteristics of poorly water soluble compounds and formulations; said powder comprises a complex which consists of (a) at least one bile salt (such as sodium cholate, sodium taurocholate, sodium glycocholate, sodium deoxycholate, sodium taurodeoxycholate, sodium glycodeoxycholate, sodium ursodeoxycholate, sodium chenodeoxycholate, sodium taurochenodeoxycholate, sodium glycochenodeoxycholate, sodium cholylsarcosinate or sodium N-methyl taurocholate), and (b) at least one phospholipid, selected from the group consisting of natural lecithins, enzyme hydrolysed lecithin, monoacylphospholipids, and mixtures of at least one diacylphospholipid and at least one monoacylphospholipid, with (c) a mole ratio of the bile salt to the phospholipid between 20:1 and 1:1 and (d) optionally one or more other lipids selected from the group consisting of fatty acids, cholesterol, monoglycerides, diglycerides, and triglycerides. |
