A multi-channel system for classifying particles (bull sperm for example) according to one or more characteristics of the particle includes a plurality of flow cytometry units 1003 each of which is operable to classify the particles by interrogating a stream of fluid contain the particles using a beam of light and which units share an integrated platform including at least one of a common supply of particles, a common housing, a common input for controlling operation of the unit, a common processor for receiving and processing information from the units to permit evaluation of the operation of one unit relative to another unit, and common fluid delivery system for delivering fluid contain the particles to the flow cytometry units. |
