abstract | Disclosed is a phosphopeptide or phosphoprotein (PP) stabilised amorphous calcium phosphate or amorphous calcium fluoride phosphate complex having a calcium ion content greater than about 30 moles of calcium per mole of PP. Also disclosed is a method for producing the above complex, comprising obtaining a solution including a PP-ACP and/or PP-ACFP complex; and mixing with calcium and phosphate ions, while maintaining the pH of the solution at less than 7. Also disclosed is the use of the above complex in oral care for remineralizing a dental surface or substrate, and for treating dental caries, dental erosion/corrosion, dental hypersensitivity and dental calculus. |
