abstract Disclosed is a method of increasing seed yield in a plant comprising incorporating into the genome of at least one cell of a plant a vector comprising a sense polynucleotide of growth eIF-5A and regulatory sequences operatively linked to the sense polynucleotide to provide transcription of said sense polynucleotide, and whereby said transcription of said sense polynucleotide increases expression of growth eIF-5A in a plant, and wherein the increased expression of growth eIF-5A increases seed yield in the plant and increases biomass of the plant as compared to wild type plants.
