titleOfInvention Live fish storage tank with ammonia oxidation using ultraviolet in presence of ozone
abstract A bulk produce transport container includes a tank supporting a wet environment, the tank having a storage region for storing produce such as live fish in water and distribution conduits through which fluid, mainly water, passes into and out of the storage region. The tank is provided with a refrigeration system for controlling temperature of the water within the tank and an assembly 11 through which water from the tank is recycled and filtered. Filtering of the water includes irradiating the water with ultraviolet light of wavelength 180nm to 280 nm in the presence of ozone to reduce the level of the oxidisable pollutant ammonia in the water. The UV wavelengths do not fall entirely within the known germicidal range of wavelengths.
