Disclosed is a multilayer heat shrinkable film having an exterior surface and an interior surface, the film comprising: a first polyamide layer comprising a blend of an amorphous nylon copolymer, a low temperature polyamide, a blend of a high temperature polyamide; a barrier layer in contact with the first polyamide layer, the barrier layer comprising an EVOH copolymer having 44 mol% or less ethylene; a second polyamide layer in contact with the barrier layer, the barrier layer being positioned between the first polyamide layer and the second polyamide layer; wherein the second polyamide layer comprises a blend of an amorphous nylon copolymer, a blend of a low temperature polyamide and a high temperature polyamide; a heat resistant outer layer forming at least a portion of the exterior surface of the film, wherein the heat resistant outer layer comprises (a) a third polyamide layer comprising an amorphous nylon copolymer, a low temperature polyamide and a high temperature polyamide (b) a layer comprising polyester; wherein the film has a free shrink value at 90°C of at least 40% in at least one of the machine direction or transverse direction; and wherein the film has an oxygen transmission rate of less than about 1.29 cc/100 in2/ day measured at 0% relative humidity. Also disclosed is a food package, having an interior surface defining a pouch for containing food and an exterior surface, wherein in the food package is composed of the multilayer shear shrinkable film. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing the said film. |
