abstract | Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a plastic material from blood meal, the method characterised by the following steps; i) treating the blood meal with at least three denaturing agents, including SDS or equivalent thereof, urea or equivalent thereof and sodium sulfite or equivalent thereof, to break interactions between proteins or portions thereof, and ii) treating the denatured protein source with sufficient pressure and temperature to consolidate the denatured protein source into a plastic material. |
