abstract | Provided is a method for analysing immune system cycling to determine when an agent should be administered to a patient suffering from a disease characterised by the production of regulator T cells, the method comprising; i) measuring the level of one or more of the following in consecutive samples previously obtained from the patient for a regular oscillation of at least one of: a) number and/or activity of regulator T cells, b) number and/or activity of effector T cells, c) a molecule associated with the disease, and/or d) an immune system marker, ii) analysing the results of step i) to detect cycling of the immune system, and iii) based on the cycling of the immune system determining when the agent is to be administered, wherein the agent is selected from the group consisting of anti-proliferative drugs, radiation, dsRNA and antibodies which inhibit the production and/or activity of regulator T cells, and wherein the disease is cancer or an infection, and· wherein the timing of when the agent should be administered is selected such that the agent exerts a proportionally greater effect against the regulator T cells than the effector T cells, and wherein levels of the molecule associated with the disease or the immune system marker reflects the number and/or activity of regulator T cells, and/or the number and/or activity of effector T cells. The method can be used for timing of therapeutic agent administration. |
