abstract | Disclosed is a method for determining the level of HER2-neu gene expression in a fixed paraffin embedded tissue sample comprising deparaffinising the tissue sample, isolating the mRNA from the sample in the presence of a chaotropic agent, subjecting the mRNA to amplification using oligonucleotide primers that hybridise under stringent conditions to a region of the HER2-neu gene to obtain an amplified sample and determining the quantity of the HER2-neu mRNA relative to an internal control gene, which can be beta-actin. |
