Disclosed is an anticoagulant antibody that binds to tissue factor (TF) or the factor VIIa/tissue factor (FVIIa/TF) complex, wherein the antibody binds with greater affinity to the FNIIa/TF complex than to TF alone, and wherin the antibody non-competitively inhibits activation of factor X (FX) by the FVIIa/TF complex. The antibody disclosed is useful in the inhibition of thrombus formation without directly affecting other coagulation parameters such as the activation and aggregation of platelets. Uses may include treating deep vein thrombosis (DVT), disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), acute coronary syndrome, or cancer with evidence of coagulopathy. |
