abstract Disclosed is a process for extracting fractions containing the growth factors TGF-B and IGF-1 from a milk product, comprising the steps of: recovering a basic fraction of the milk product by means of cationic exchange chromatography; contacting a solution containing the obtained fraction with a hydrophobic interaction chromatography resin comprising a carrier and a ligand attached to the carrier; wherein the ligand of the hydrophobic interaction chromatography resin is selected from a n-butyl group, a t-butyl group, and a phenyl group; eluting the hydrophobic interaction chromatography resin with an eluent to obtain a fraction containing growth factor compounds; and wherein the eluent contains substantially no alcohol when a phenyl group is used as a ligand.
