A fusion polypeptide comprises a first polypeptide comprising an extracellular portion of a glycoprotein IB-alpha, and operably linked to a second polypeptide comprising an Fc region of an immunoglobulin heavy chain of an immunoglobulin polypeptide. The first polypeptide comprises at least one of the amino acid substitutions G233V or M239 V relative to the amino acid sequence of a wild-type GPIB-alpha polypeptide. Also described are DNA molecules encoding the fusion polypeptide, vectors, isolated cells comprising the DNA molecules, methods for expressing glycoprotein IB-alpha polypeptide immunoglobulin fusion polpeptide, pharmaceutical compositions comprising the fusion polypeptide or DNA molecules for inhibiting adherence of a blood cell or protein to a biological tissue in a biological system or for the treatment of a disorder associated with platelet activation. |
