A modified enzyme produced by a process that comprises identifying one or more antigenic regions in the enzyme using an antibody, removing one or more antigenic regions from the enzyme and determining that the modified enzyme has enzymatic activity. The enzyme used is humanized recombinant gelonin toxin. The modified enzyme, which has reduced antigenicity, can be used in the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of cancer. |
