abstract Disclosed are compounds of formula (I), wherein: R1 is selected from H, alkyl, COOH, and COOalkyl, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are independently selected from H, halogen, alkyl, trifluoromethyl, hydroxy, alkoxy, aryloxy, arylalkyloxy, nitro, amino, alkylamino, di(alkyl)-amino, piperidino, morpholino, pyrrolidino, alknaoylamino, aryl or heteroaryl; or R2 and R3 together or R3 and R4 together or R4 and R5 together, can form an alkylenedioxy ring, or R2 and R3 together or R3 and R4 together or R4 and R5 together, respectively, can form an alkylene chain, Y is -CH2CH2-, and X is -(CH2)n-, -CH=CH-(CH2)n-2-, -(CH2)n-1-CH(CH3)-, -(CH2)n-1-C(CH3)2-, or -(CH2)n-1-C(-CH2-CH2-)-, in which n is from 3 to 7. The compounds are used in the manufacture of medicaments having deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor activity.
