abstract A sustained-release microcapsule for long-term pest- control. It consists of: a) a capsule core containing an active pest control ingredient and a diluent, and b) a capsule shell physically separating the capsule core from the surrounding medium, and c) the diluent is configured to entrap the active ingredient and to provide resistance to mass transfer of the active ingredient, and d) the capsule shell has a plurality of shell pores and are configured to provide additional resistance to mass transfer of the active ingredient, and e) the mass transfer resistance exists in at least one of the capsule core and the capsule shell depends on the temperature of the surrounding medium
