abstract | A bait composition comprises at least one bait medium, which contains a digest mixtures composed of digested bait medium or meat substance, a toxin and at least one flavour enhancer. The combination produces bait that has an improved attraction to animals. Preferably the digest mixture is prepared from kangaroo, meat, beef, mutton, lamb or buffalo, the toxin does not flavor the bait and is selected from 1080(sodium fluroacetate), cyanide, cholcalciferol, warfin or gliftor and/or the flavour enhancers are selected from mono sodium glutamate (MSG), Fenugreek powder (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.), Metatabi powder (Actinidia polygama), Talin powder (Thaumatin (Thaumatococcus danielli)) or L-alanine. The composition may further comprise a fatty substance i.e. chicken fat. The digest of the bait composition is prepared by adding an equal volume of water to meat mince then adding acid to the mince-water mixture at a ration of 30ml acid to 2kg mince-water mixture. The mixture is then heated to boiling point and maintained for one hour. The digest is then cooled to room temperature and flavour enhancers are added. |
