Lipid- or water-soluble anti-cancer drugs are incorporated into liposomes to enable delivery via a small particle aerosol from a jet nebulizer to the respiratory tract of an individual. The ratio of anti-cancer drug to lipid in the liposome is in the range 1:1 to 1:200 wt:wt, preferably 1:10 to 1:50 wt: wt. Examples of anti-cancer drugs that may be used include 20-S-Camptothecin, 9-Nitro-camptothecin, 9-Amino-camptothecin, 10,11-methylenedioxy-camptothecin and taxol or its derivatives. |
