Synthesis and use of compounds derived from pentaerythritol of formulas (I), (III), (V) and (VI) of NZ Patent Specification 514312, which can be used as pharmaceutically active substances for the treatment of cardiac and circulatory diseases are described. Compounds of formula (I): (O2NOCH2)mC(CH2OH)n(CH2COR1)p In which R1 represents a group of the formula (II), in which R2 represents a C1 to C20 alkyl group; and m to p are integers, where m+n+o+p=4, m>=1, and o and/or p>=1. Compounds of formula (III): (O2NOCH2)mC(CH2OH)n (CH2COR3)o(COR3)p in which R3 represents a group of the formula (IV) in which R2 represents a C1 to C20 alkyl group; and m to p are integers, where m+n+o+p=4, m>=1, and o and/or p>=1. Compounds of formula (V) in which R2 represents a C1 to C20 alkyl group; and R4 represents a C1 to C6 alkanoyl group, salicyloyl or acetylsalicyloyl. Compounds of formula (VI): (O2NOCH2)mC(CH2OH)n(CH2COR5)o (COR5)p in which R5 is (2-carboxyphenyl)oxy or (2-alkoxycarbonylphenyl)oxy and m to p are integers, and: m+n+o+p=4, m>=1, and o and/or p>=1 and their therapeutically acceptable salts. |
