titleOfInvention | Sustained release dosage form, comprising a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, and a sustained release carrier which comprises xantham gum, locust bean gum and a diluent |
abstract | The sustained release dosage form comprises from 500 mg to 1000 mg of an insoluble NSAID and an effective amount of a sustained release carrier, which comprises xantham gum, locust bean gum and a pharmaceutically acceptable inert diluent. The total weight of the dosage form is from 110 percent to 140 percent by weight of the insoluble NSAID. The xantham gum and locust bean gum comprise 7 percent to 40 percent by weight of the dosage form, the locust bean gum comprising 50 percent to 95 percent of the sustained release carrier. This dosage form provides a dissolution of the NSAID in-vitro when measured by the USP Type II (Paddle) Method, of from 6 percent by weight of the NSAID released at after 2 hours and a t50 after 12 to 16 hours. |
