Compounds of the formula (I), wherein: R0 is independently selected from =O and -OR1; Each of C1-C4, C11, C12, C15 and C16 is independently substituted with any of (a) and (b); (a) =O, =C(R4)(R4), -C(R4)(R4)(C(R4)(R4))n or -(O(C(R4)(R4))nO)-, wherein n is an integer from 1-6; (b) two of -X, -R4 and -OR1; C17 is substituted with a group selected from (c)-(i), wherein; (c) =C(R2)(R3) except when C14 is substituted with methyl; (d) two of -R5 and -OR6 as long as rings A and B are not aromatic and R5 is substituted with hydrogen, and when C10 is substituted with methyl then C5 is not bonded directly to an oxygen, where R5 and R6 may together form a direct bond so C17 is a carbonyl group, or may together with C17 for a cyclic 3-6 membered ether or 4-6 membered lactone; otherwise R5 is R4 or -OR6 and R6 is R1-R4; (e) =O, =C(R4)(R4), -C(R4)(R4)(C(R4)(R4))n- or -(O(C(R4)(R4)(C(R4)(R4))nO)-, wherein n is an integer from 1-6; (f) two of -X, -R4 and -OR1; (g) cyclic structure of formula (II), wherein G is -C(=O)-, -CH(OR1)-, -C(R4)(OR1)- or -C(OR1)(OR1)-, as long as C3 and C4 are not simultaneously substituted with hydroxyl or protected hydroxyl; (h) two hydrogen atoms as long as C3 is not substituted with a carbonyl group; (i) one hydrogen atom and one group selected from C1-C30 hydrocarbyl groups optionally substituted with halogens; the A, B, C and D rings may independently be fully saturated, partially saturated or fully unsaturated; R1 is hydrogen or a protecting group; vicinal -OR1 groups may be protected by a cyclic group; R2, R3 and R4 are independently selected from hydrogen and C1-30 hydrocarbon that may optionally contain at least one heteroatom selected from the group boron, halogen, nitrogen, silicon and sulphur; wherein two geminal R4 groups may together from a ring with the carbon atom to which they are bound; X is fluoride, chloride bromide or iodide. These compounds are useful for treating asthma, allergic reactions and inflammation. |
