A process for the preparation of 3-phenyl-1-methylenedioxyphenyl-indane-2-carboxylic acid derivatives of the formula 1 where A, B, C and D are carbon atoms or three of A, B, C and D are carbon atoms and one is nitrogen R1 is there formula 2 where the substituents R3, R4, and R5 are defined in the specification. The process occurs where Formula 10 to give formula 11 which is treated with an acid chloride to give formula 12, which is then reacted with 12a in the presence of a catalyst to form formula 13 which is reacted with copper complex, and then sodium methoxide in methanol, hydrogenating over Pa, treating with methyl bromoacetate, potassium carbonate in acetone/methanol followed by saponification with Lithium hydroxide, and finally treating the compound with sodium hydroxide to give the desired compound. |
