| abstract |
Absorbent article, such as a diaper, containing thigh cuffs coated with a lotion preparation. The lotions of the present invention minimize wear between the cuffs and the skin in areas where the cuffs are in contact with the wearer's skin, resulting in less skin irritation. The lotion preparations also reduce the adhesiveness of stool to the skin of the wearer, thereby facilitating drying of stools. The lotion composition comprises a plastic or liquid polysiloxane softener such as phenyl-functional polymethyl siloxanes, an immobilizer such as a fatty alcohol or paraffin wax to immobilize the softener on the surface of the diaper cuffs, and optionally a hydrophilic surfactant or to improve the hydrophilic surfactant or for the lotion preparations. Because the polysiloxane softener is mainly immobilized on the surface of the thigh cuff, less lotion is needed to impart the desired therapeutic or protective benefits with lotion coating. |
