A quaternary ammonium cholinergic agent is complexed with a multivalent anion or with the multiple monovalent anion. The complex can be administered orally to a patient to treat pain or for other purposes. A variety of modifications may be appropriate, including modifications to the ring's ring structure, as well as ring substitution and functionalization. Other relevant modifications include the use of various anions, including different monovalent and polyvalent anions, and both organic and inorganic anions. The compounds have use as cholinergic agents, especially in the treatment of myasthenia grayish, chest pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. |
