abstract | A method for increasing the effectiveness of a microbiocide is described. In the process, a microbiocide and N-alkylheterocyclic compound are applied to a substrate or aqueous system which is subject to the growth of microorganisms. The N-alkylheterocyclic compound of formula (I). The variable «n» varies from 5 to 17, and the heterocyclic ring ,. defined as (a), is a substituted or unsubstituted ring containing four to eight elements. Microbiocidal compositions are described in which the microbiocide and the N-alkylheterocyclic compound are present in a combined amount as a controlling effect on the growth of at least one microorganism. Similarly, methods for growth control of microorganisms on different substrates and in different aqueous systems are described. The combination of the microbiocide and the N-alkylheterocyclic compound is particularly useful as a microbiocide in the leather industry, the timber industry, the papermaking industry, the textile industry, the agricultural industry and the coating industry. as well as in process water from industry. |
