| abstract |
Pharmaceutical compositions useful for treating individuals suffering from an infection or disease caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV) are described. In particular, it has been discovered that administration of low doses of 1- (2'-deoxy-2'-fluoro-BD-arabino-furanosyl) -5-iodouracil (FIAU) to people chronically infected with HBV can effectively reduce circulating markers associated with HBV. Methods for the preparation of pharmaceutical antiviral compositions are also described. |
