abstract | Monoclonal antibodies that react with oncogenic and activated ras-p21 proteins that contain aspartic acid or valine at position 13, and that do not react with normal ras-p21 proteins that contain glycine at position 13. The antibodies are secreted by hybridomas obtained by immunizing mice with synthetic peptides which in amino acid sequence correspond to positions 5-19 in normal ras-p21 proteins, except that they have aspartic acid or valine instead of glycine at position 13, and except - from the addition of cysteine at the amino terminus to the peptide . The antibodies and the immunologically reactive fragments can be used in the diagnosis, staging and classification of malignant and premalignant lesions. |
