titleOfInvention Process for the treatment of fillers, pigments or minerals in aqueous suspension containing natural carbonate
abstract A pigment, filler or mineral containing a natural calcium carbonate, treated with one or more H30 + ion donors and gaseous CO2, allows the reduction of the paper weight at a constant surface without loss of the physical properties when used as a pulp pigment or as a coating mass for the paper . In particular, there is described a pigment, filler or mineral containing a natural calcium carbonate, or dolomite or mixtures of talc-calcium carbonate, kaolin-calcium carbonate alone or in combination with natural and / or synthetic fibers or the like, treated with one or more moderately strong to strong H30 + ion donors in the presence of gaseous CO2. The technology of the invention finds particular application in the paper industry as paper sheets with particularly good properties are obtained, i.e. a reduction of the weight for a given thickness.
