titleOfInvention Process for Acetic Acid Preparation Using Rhodium and Inorganic Iodide Catalyst Systems
abstract Process for substantially reducing the formation of carbonyl impurities by known methods of methanol carbonylation. The formation of carbonyl impurities, especially acetaldehyde, crotonaldehyde and 2-ethylcrotonaldehyde, by methanol carbonylation reactions is reduced by keeping the hydrogen partial pressure between 0.69 and 27.6 kPa (a) at a total reaction pressure of 15 to 40 atmospheres.
