abstract The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of. metal dihydroxybenzene disulfonates, preferably from alkali metals, from corresponding dihydroxybenzene disulfonic acids. The process for preparing a dihydroxybenzene disulfonate according to the invention, from a corresponding dihydroxybenzene disulfonic acid, is characterized in that it includes reacting the dihydroxybenzene disulfonic acid present in a sulfuric acid medium with a sufficient amount of a salt including a sulfate sulfate ion or hydrogen sulfate ion.
