abstract The present invention provides an anti-fouling paint composition comprising a hydrolyzable copolymer (A) and an anti-fouling agent (B) wherein (A) is at least one type of hydrolyzable copolymer selected from the group consisting of (a1) a copolymer containing a metal salt bond which is an acrylic polymer. or a polyester resin, and has a side chain terminal group represented by formula (I): -COO-MO-COR1 [wherein M represents zinc or copper and R 1 represents an organic group]; (a2) a copolymer containing a metal salt bond composed of a component unit (a21) represented by formula (II): CH2 = C (R2) -COO-MO-CO-C (R2) = CH2 [where M is the same as above and R 2 represents H or CH 3] and the second unsaturated monomer component unit (a22) copolymerizable with the monomer (II); and (a3) a silyl ester-based copolymer composed of a component unit (a31) represented by the general formula (III): R7-CH = C (R3) -COO-SiR4R5R6 [wherein R3 is the same as R2, R4 to R6 hydrocarbon group, R7 represents H or R8 -O-CO- (with the proviso that R8 represents an organic group or -SiR9R10R11 (R9 to R11 is a hydrocarbon group) and the second unsaturated monomer component unit (a32) copolymerizable with the monomer (III); and zinc sulphide are contained in an amount of 10 to 500 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of (A) as said antifouling agent (B) .The antifouling paint composition of the present invention provides less environmental impact and exhibits excellent antifouling properties for algae.
