The present invention relates to a process for the melting and saccharification of polysaccharide-containing biomasses, which has a relatively high solids content. The present invention combines enzymatic hydrolysis with a type of mixture based on the principle of gravity which ensures that the biomasses are exposed to mechanical forces, primarily shearing and tearing forces. Furthermore, the present invention relates to the further utilization of such processed biomasses, e.g. for subsequent fermentation to bioethanol, biogas, special carbohydrates for food or feed as well as carbon raw material for processing into plastics and chemicals. |
