titleOfInvention dye Mixture
abstract Dye mixture comprising a color cake and a dye dispersant. The dye dispersant comprises sulfonated or sulfomethylated lignin with increased activity and improved heat stability, and is prepared by removing low molecular weight components of the sulfonated or sulfomethylated lignin. Removal of the low molecular weight portion of the dispersant may be accomplished by fractionating the sulfonated or sulfomethylated lignin to remove a substantial portion of molecules of molecular weight below 3000, preferably below 5000. Alternatively, in the case of lignin recovered from sulfate or soda pulp processes, the lignin may be fractionated. to remove a substantial proportion of the molecular weight molecules below 3000 prior to sulfonation or sulfomethylation.
