titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF ALKALIMETAL OR EARTHALKALIMETAL SALTS OF N5-FORMYL-5,6,7,8-TETRAHYDROPHOLIC ACID
abstract Alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salts of N 5 -formyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrofolic acid are obtained by mixing 5,6,7,8-tetrahydrofolic acid with at least one solvent and this mixture is mixed with the formula as formylating agent and heated to a temperature at 45 ° C to 75 ° C. After the formylation, the mixture is diluted with water and mixed with a corresponding alkali metal or ordalkali metal base in such an amount that a measured pH of 7.5 to 10.0 is obtained. To this mixture, which corresponds to 1 part by volume, is added 1.5 to 3 parts by volume of at least one polar, water-miscible organic solvent. The precipitated alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt of N-formyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrofolic acid is separated and recrystallized from water.
