titleOfInvention CLEAR, LIQUID, WHITE DETERGENT.
abstract 1380107 Detergents containing optical brighteners COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO 6 March 1972 [15 March 1971] 10320/72 Heading C5D A clear liquid detergent composition comprises (A) 1 to 40% wt. water-soluble organic detergent, (B) 1 to 50% wt. organic builder, (C) 1 to 40% wt. hydrotrope, (D) 1 to 20% wt. ethoxylated C 8 -C 15 fatty alcohol, (E) 0À01 to 0À5% wt. optical brightener, (F) 1 to 20% wt. ethylene glycolether and/or dimethyl sulphoxide, and (F) water to balance. An example consists of sodium tridecyl benzene sulphonate, ethoxylated fatty alcohol, trisodium nitrilotriacetate, ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, ammonium cumene sulphonate, a mixture of optical brightening agents, dye and water. The compositions are prepared by mixing the optical brightener with the ethylene glycolether and/or dimethyl sulphoxide and the ethoxylated fatty alcohol, heating to 75‹ to 180‹ F. to dissolve the optical brightener and mixing the solution so prepared with the remaining ingredients of the composition.
