titleOfInvention | CATALYST COMPOSITION FOR HYDRO TREATMENT OF A HYDROCARBON OIL, METHOD FOR PREPARING THE CATALYST COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR TREATING A HYDROCARBON HYDROGEN. |
abstract | Catalyst composition for treating a hydrocarbon oil with hydrogen, the catalyst being a composition of a metal in the form of an oxide from group VIB in an amount of 5-30 wt% and a metal as an oxide from group VIII of 1-10 wt%, the metal from group VIB and the metal from group VIII being dispersed at a concentration gradient which increases from the surface towards the centre of a catalyst particle according to the formulae 0.9 > h2/h1 <IMAGE> 0, where h1 is the concentration of the metal from group VIB at the centre of the catalyst particle and h2 at the outermost surface of the catalyst particle, and 0.9 > h4/h3 <IMAGE> 0, where h3 is the concentration of the metal from group VIII at the centre of the catalyst particle and h4 at the outermost surface of the catalyst particle. The catalyst composition can be used for the treatment with hydrogen (hydrogen treatment, hydrofining) to remove sulphur, nitrogen, metals, and for hydrocracking of the topped product (tops) or distillates under reduced pressure and residues and equally for hydrotreating to purify fractions such as kerosene, gas oil, wax and lube oil (lubricating oil). The catalyst has high activity over a long period. The invention also relates to methods of preparing the catalyst composition. |
