titleOfInvention | TRIARYL PHOSPHATES, AND PREPARATIONS INCLUDING THESE TRIARYL PHOSPHATES. |
abstract | Triarylphosphates of formula (I) are new: x = 1-2; R1 = H or CH3; R2 and R3 are each 1-9C opt. branched alkyl or H; R4 = H or isopropyl; R5 = isopropyl). Pref. cpds. have R1, R2, R3 at 2,4,6-position and all H or CH3, and esp. R5 at 6-position. They are made by conventional phosphorylation of the appropriate phenols. Compsn. comprises a polyermer and 1-150 wt. % on polymer of (I). The polymer is esp. polystyrene (opt. mixed with poly-2, 6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) or PVC is also claimed. (I) are useful for flame-proofing polymers, for plasticising PVC and as flame-resistant (hydraulic or electrical functional fluids. Compared with known triarylphosphate functional fluids they undergo smaller changes in viscosity and acid no. when heated. |
