abstract | Magnetic recording medium has a ferromagnetic thin film with a thin coating of UV-cured epoxide resin contg. a lubricant. The coating compsn. pref. contains an uncured epoxide resin (max. 50% of which is a cycloaliphatic resin), aromatic diazonium salts of halide complexes, a gelation inhibitor forming a Lewis acid on UV exposure and a lubricant. Pref. the lubricant is an aliphatic ester of a polyhydric alcohol, modified silicone or modified fluoride oil. The coating increases the wear resistance. The material is esp. useful as video tape and gives satisfactory recording and reproduction, even at high temp. and high humidity. |
