titleOfInvention METHOD OF REDUCING THE TENDENCY OF CONJUGATED SERVICES TO POLYMERIZE IN POLYMER SOLUTION EXPOSED TO HIGHER TEMPERATURE SOLUTIONS.
abstract Polymerisation of conjugated dienes in soln. in polar solvents, at increased temp., in retarded by addn. of an aliphatic nitro cpd. The method is partic. applied in sepn. of butadiene, in high yield and high purity, by extractive distn. or solvent extn., from gas mixts., e.g. a 4C hydrocarbon fraction it can be used also in sepn. of isoprene and/or 1,3-pentadiene from 5 C hydrocarbon fractions, where the solns. in, e.g. acetonitrile, dimethylformamide, acetone or N-methylpyrrolidone, are exposed to 150 degrees C or higher. No polymerisation occurs even in presence of Fe rust or water; use of stainless steel appts. is unnecessary. Continuous, uniform, sepn. of butadiene, isoprene or 1,3-pentadiene can be attained during long periods. Polymerisation is prevented even in presence of unsatd. cpds., e.g. methyl-, vinyl- or propyl-acetylene, 1,2-pentadiene, butene-1, isobutane, pentene-1 and 2, adn 2-methylpentene-1, and of satd. hydrocarbons, e.g. butane and n- or isopentane.
