abstract |
Dry or semi-dry cat foods contg. >=25% protein (based on 90% dry substance) are coated with 5-12% fat and 0.05-5% citric acid. Coating with citric acid makes the foods more readily accepted by cats. The citric acid layer can be applied by spraying the food pellets with a conc. aq. soln. of citric acid (before or after coating the pellets with fat) or with a dispersion of citric acid in the fat. The citric acid content of the product is pref. 0.5-1%. |
