Oxazolopyridine derivs. of formula (I) R' = H or lower alkyl; X same or different when n >1, are lower alkyl or alkoxy, halo of CF3; n = 1-3). They are prepd. by cyclising (X)n-substd. benzoic acid with 2-amino-3-hydroxypyridine with polyphosphoric acid, are anti-inflammatories esp. for topically application in treatment of sunburn, dermatitis, eczema, insect bites. They have only low systemic antiinflammatory activity but are powerful inhibitors of prostaglandin synthesase. They are used in conventional forms, creams, ointments etc. contg. pref. about 0.1 wt. % (I). |
