titleOfInvention | Thermosetting resin foams - with low density and low shrink resistance |
abstract | Title foams are prepd. from a water-in-resin emulsion comprising (a) 30 - 80 wt.% aq. phase and 20 - 70 wt.% continuous resin phase, (b) 0.005 - 10% of a polyalkylene block copolymer (pref. with polyethylene) as nonionic surfactant whose hydrophobic gp. has mol. wt. >=1000, and (c) 0.1 - 20% (based on emulsion) of a hydrocarbonaceous dimensional control agent of mol.wt. 200 - 150,000, pref. 500 - 10,000, which is a polymer of >=1 olefins of formula CH2=CHR (where R is H, alkyl, alkenyl or aryl) opt. with other monomers, esp. vinyl acetate or (meth)acrylic acid or ester. The resin phase esp. contains 30 - 80 wt.% of an unsatd. polyester and/or a vinyl ester resin. |
