abstract | is prepd. by reacting >=1 unsatd. cpd. from butene-1, cis-butene-2, trans-butene-butadiene 2, 1-acyloxy-2-butene, 1-acyloxy-1,3-butadiene, or esp. butadiene with a carboxylic acid and O2 in the presence of a catalyst contng. Pd, pref. with an alkali-metal carboxylate as promoter, and pref. in the gas phase at 80 degrees -200 degrees C. The concn. of butadiene in the gas mixture feed is pref. =30% and esp. between 10 and 5%. The gas mixture also, pref. contains water vapour. The diacyloxy-2-butene-formed is hydrolysed to give 2-butene-1,4-diol. |
