titleOfInvention Polluting proteins prepn. from waste water
abstract Proteins (1) and their degradation products (e.g. polypeptides (2) and amino-acids (3) are removed from waste water, with simultaneous removal of oil or fat emulsions possibly present. (1), (2) and (3) are pptd. under acidic conditions using one or more alkylsulphate of M.W. 200 (4) or an aryl sulphonic acid (5) or aryl sulphonate (6) opt. substd. by one or more 8-20C alkyl groups, after which the pptd. product is separated. Pptn. pH may be 3 to 4.5, pref. ca 3.5. The pptn. agent may also contain one or more lignin sulphonic acids or salts. Excess pptn. agent may be removed from the filtrate by chrome leather. The pptd. protein pptn. agent complex may be separated by filtration or centrifuging. Uses are treating industrial waste from cheese factories, slaughter houses, fish-meal, starch-, potato-, and other food preparing factories as well as ordinary household waste water. The proteins recovered may be used for fodder, or for recovery of pure (3).
