abstract Cosmetic or therapeutic preparations in the form of powders containing microorganism metabolic products are prepared by stirring a conventional inorganic or organic cosmetic or therapeutic powder base with a fermentation broth, which contains the desired active ingredient(s) and which is free from solids, to form a pulp which is then spread to obtain as large a surface area as possible and is maintained at 20-25 DEG C. for 5-15 days in an atmosphere having a relative humidity of 80-100%, before being dried and ground. The powder base may be an urea-formaldehyde resin, talcum, or levelite (which is silica having a particle size of 0.003m ). The fermentation broth may be that described in Specification No. 984,897 or No. 1,008,281. The powder obtained in the Example by treating silica with fermentation broth according to Specification No. 984,897, is stated to be highly active against inflammatory conditions in the mouth, skin eczema, mycosis, and unpleasant odours, especially odours of the body.
