titleOfInvention | PROCEDURE FOR DECOMPOSING POLYCYCLOALKYLIDE POLYPEROXIDES. |
abstract | 1,185,936. Macrocyclic compounds. RESEARCH CORP. 24 Sept., 1968 [15 Jan., 1968], No. 45288/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C5] Macrocyclic compounds, particularly lactones are prepared by decomposing di- or triperoxides of cyclic ketones having a 5-membered or larger ring by irradiation with ultraviolet light or by heating above 100‹ C. The thermal decomposition may be effected in a sealed tube or by injection into a heated packed column. In examples 11-undecanolactone is obtained from cyclohexanone diperoxide, 13-tridecanolactone from cycloheptanone diperoxide or cyclopentanone triperoxide, 16-hexadecanolactone from cyclohexanone triperoxide and 23- tricosanolactone from cyclododecanone diperoxide. Reference is also made to the production of cyclopentadecanone using a ketosubstituted cyclohexanone triperoxide. |
