abstract A gum base composition comprises 10-25 wt.% vinylacetate resin, 10-25 wt.% ester gum, 18-25 wt.% calcium carbonate, 6-14 wt.% petroleum wax, 16-24 wt.% polyisobutylene, 1-5 wt.% plasticizer, 0.5-4 wt.% emulsifier, 3-10 wt.% polybutene, and 0.1-5 wt.% gelatin. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a process for preparing a gum base, comprising mixing a vinylacetate resin, an ester gum, and polyisobutylene at 110-130[deg]C, adding calcium carbonate or talc to the mixture followed by gradual heating, adding gelatin to the mixture when the reaction reaches 120-170[deg]C, rapidly cooling the mixture to 60-70[deg]C, and adding plasticizer, an emulsifier, petroleum wax, polybutene, and/or a flavoring to the mixture followed by mixing at 110-130[deg]C; and (2) a process for preparing a gum comprising adding starch syrup, a sweetener, an acidifier, a flavoring, a gelatin, and glucose to the gum base obtained by the above specified process, pre-forming the mixture to a flattened shape, cutting it into pieces that are the shape of stones, and obtained stone gum.
