titleOfInvention Anti-decubitus pillow / mattress, consisting of a combination of different pressure-distributing principles.
abstract Individual cells are filled with open pore structure foam having a density which increases towards the centre of the cell. An anti-decubitis pad, pillow or cushion contains a number of interconnected, inflatable, vertically deformable air cells positioned at different heights in order to conform to the shape of the back. The cells are filled separately with a deformable foam having an open pore structure and a density appropriate for providing the desired pressure distribution pattern. Foam density increases towards the centre of the cell. Independent claims are also included for (a) an anti-decubitis mattress with the above construction, and (b) an anti-decubitis pad, pillow or cushion containing a combination of air and foam-filled cells.
